This list is by no means exhaustive but these are many organizations that do great work for Veterans and their families. 

Veterans Health Administration

The VA's mission is to fulfill President Lincoln's promise "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's veterans.

Vet Centers

Vet Centers across the country provide a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families. All services are free of cost and are strictly confidential.

Mental Health America

A community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and to promoting the overall mental health of all Americans.

National Center for PTSD

The National Center for PTSD is dedicated to research and education on trauma and PTSD. Has very good Youtube channel for informational videos on PTSD similar to The Soldier's Heart but more basic and lecture focused. 

PTSD Foundation of America

The PTSD Foundation of America's mission is to combat PTSD by bringing healing, raising awareness, and networking. 

Veteran's Crisis Line

1-800-273-8255 and PRESS 1

The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online, or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Support for deaf and hard of hearing individuals is available. 

Women Veteran's Call Center

The WVCC staff is trained to provide women Veterans, their families, and caregivers about VA services and resources.  We are ready to respond to your concerns.  The call is free, and you can call as often as you like until you have the answers to your questions.  The Call Center is available Monday through Friday 8 AM - 10 PM ET, and on Saturdays from 8 AM - 6:30 PM ET

A nonprofit veteran service agency whose mission is to serve men and women of our armed forces who find themselves in need after returning to civilian life.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV)

A nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families, helping more than 1 million veterans in positive, life-changing ways each year. The organization provides more than 670,000 rides for veterans attending medical appointments and assists veterans with more than 292,000 benefit claims annually. In 2016, DAV helped attain more than $4 billion in new and retroactive benefits to care for veterans, their families and survivors.

Vietnam Veterans of America

VVA’s goals are to promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans, and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans.

Make the Connection

An online resource designed to connect Veterans, their family members and friends, and other supporters with information, resources, and solutions to issues affecting their lives.

Wounded Warrior Project

Serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families.

Woman's Veteran Initiative

A group of women veterans and supportive civilians, who work to improve the lives and well-being of all women veterans through: I. Advocacy at the state and federal level II. Innovative outreach programs designed to reduce barriers to accessing services, support and participation III. Holistic health & wellness programs that address the unique needs of female veteran.

Storycorp Veterans Initiative

The Military Voices Initiative provides a platform for veterans, service members, and military families to share their stories. In doing so we honor their voices, amplify their experiences, and let them know that we—as a nation—are listening.

Project Welcome Home Troops

Project Welcome Home Troops’ mission is to improve the quality of life for returning veterans and their families. They provide safe and effective techniques for stress relief, greater health and well-being, and empowerment.

Dryhootch

Dryhootch is a place where Veterans can gather informally in a coffee house; a safe, comfortable, drug-and-alcohol-free environment. They provide many programs for veterans as well. 

Homes For Heroes

The largest nationwide network of affiliate real estate specialists and local business affiliates; committed to providing easy ways for the heroes of our nation to save on a home, and on every day home-related purchases.

Almost Sunrise

Former soldiers Tom Voss and Anthony Anderson, haunted by their own combat experiences, take a 2,700-mile trek on foot across America seeking redemption, acceptance and a way to close the moral chasm opened by war.Almost Sunrise documents their journey and the healing lessons they learn along the way. A vital, life-changing film for veterans, their families and anyone who wants to understand the harsh challenges faced by returning soldiers.

Wisconsin Veterans Foundation

A nonprofit, charitable organization. provides direct assistance to veterans in addition to supporting other veteran initiatives. Provide a monthly podcast on a mass of veteran related topics many focusing on Post Traumatic Stress and its many facets.
